Summer Fair:

ART AND INDUSTRY 38 VOLUMES 1937-1957

 

A rare opportunity to acquire a virtually complete run of the leading British

decorative, applied, and commercial art journal Art and Industry.

Contains hundreds of articles on contemporary poster art, advertising,

industrial design, interior design, illustration, photography, architecture,

textile design, furniture design, fashion, etc. With detailed reports on the

Paris Exposition of 1937, the New York World’s Fair of 1939-40, the Britain

Can Make It Exhibition of 1946, the Festival of Britain,  etc.  The volumes for the Second World War (1939-45) are particularly scarce.

 

Among the many artists and designers whose work is discussed or illustrated in the journal are E. McKnight Kauffer, Enid Marx, Edward Bawden, Eric Ravilious, Tom Purvis, Man Ray, A.M. Cassandre, Abram Games, Norman Bel Geddes, Barnet Freedman, Raymond Loewy, Doris and Anna Zinkeisen, Eric Fraser, Barnett Freedman, Herbert Bayer, Serge Chermayeff, Wyndham Lewis, Lewitt-Him, John Nash, Paul Nash, Wells Coates, Fougasse, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Tom Gentleman, Rex Whistler, Edward Ardizzone, etc.

 

Approximately 6,500 pages and in excess of 8,000 images. Most of the vols

are ex-art college reference library, but are in very good condition with
