SUMMER FAIR HIGHLIGHT — John Cameron

John Cameron will be exhibiting at the forthcoming Summer Fair at Stand 91, he will have the following for sale:

 

An important late renaissance binding from one of the great Parisian libraries.

From the library of Méry de Vic, seigneur d’Ermenonville, keeper of the seals of France and celebrated bibliophile, died 1622. His library – which included some 3,000 volumes from Grolier’s last library – was inherited by his son Archbishop Dominique de Vic. The library was sold in 1676 and many of the books went to the Bibliotheque Nationale.

One of only a handful of examples of a folio Fanfare-backed binding from De Vic’s library, this one apparently unrecorded. £5,600  ( Please ask for full description )
