George Jeffery

The current George Jeffery is the latest in a long line of book dealers.  Many of today’s traders will remember George Jeffery senior from the Farringdon Road Book Stalls, where the young George began working as a boy helping his father.

After a spell away from the book trade George returned in the late 1980’s working with his father and later, after his father’s death, opening a book shop on St. John’s Street, London, EC1.

The changes in the book trade necessitated changing trading conditions and currently George Jeffery Books trades online and at fairs. Check out his website at   George Jeffery Books

It seemed a natural progression to start running a fair when the opportunity arose 14 years ago with the Ephemera Fair, which saw a mixture of dealers specialising in books, maps, prints and ephemera.  With George’s own experience of exhibiting and with the help of his wife Kim, the tentative roots of what is now Etc Fairs has grown.

As many of you  know Etc Fairs now runs The Bloomsbury Book Fair, The Bloomsbury Ephemera, Book & Postcard Fair, as well as previously managing the Gerrards Cross Book Fair.

George states “We like to think that Kim and I have established a reputation for running well organised events where new and old exhibitors are always welcome”.
